I've been sick for a couple of days, but I'm back! My apartment has a pretty big balcony that I've been so excited to decorate. Now that summer is only a couple of months away, I've realized now is the time to do it! Hopefu \lly I will have a picture or two of the final product that I can post in a couple of weeks. For now, here are my steps to decorating the perfect balcony or patio:
Step 1, seating. If you don't have a comfy area to sit, you won't spend any time on your newly decorated balcony. The easy option is to add a couple of chairs or a bench. If you're feeling adventurous, go with a swing or hammock.

Step 2, Add Light. Spending time on your balcony or patio on a bright and sunny day is the obvious choice. But the truth is, we spend the most time at home during the evening hours. Making sure your space has the proper lighting will allow you to make the most of your balcony any day of the week! Not only can you get more out of your new balcony, but you can create a romantic space with twinkle lights, lanterns and candles.
Step 3, Make your balcony feel comfy by adding cushions, a few pillows and perhaps, a throw. Not only will adding pillows to your balcony make the space more inviting, but it's also a great opportunity to add a few pops of color.
Step 4, Plants, Plants and More Plants. Make the most of your balcony space by incorporating plant life. Try covering a wall with a vine by leaning a trellis, plant a few trees for the corners, grow an herb garden, the options are endless...
The last and final step, Step 5, make sure you have a Table. I use the term "table" very loosely, all you need is something to set your wine glass or your book on. Try making your own table out of a crate, put a tray on ottoman or go out an buy a table.
